Bear Says Thanks Book Review
My students made chocolate chip muffins to contribute at a school "sharing feast" after reading this book and they were so excited!! Bear Says Thanks is a wonderful story of feeling like one has nothing to add, but in reality having a lot to share. Bear wants to make a feast for his friends, but soon realizes he doesn't have any food. His friends all stop by, one by one, with food to share with him. Bear is discouraged that he hasn't anything to share, but his friends all comment that his stories are what he will bring to the table.
I enjoy this story, both in English and in Spanish, because I have many bilingual students. Wh Bear Says Thanks is a wonderful story of feeling like one has nothing to add, but in reality having a lot to share. Whether English is their primary language or not, they can still feel included.
Also, my English-only speaking students are introduced to the world of Spanish. This is a nice story about friendship and love and coming together.
