There's a lot of topics parents in my children's ministry struggle to talk about. The books are small - and could easily fit in a purse or backpack. Each book provides short scenarios and three or four responses a teen might talk about in a particular situation. I found the books I dove into the Sexuality Edition and Internet Edition specifically to be interesting.

But they are a solid resource that a parent can use.

I found the Internet Edition interesting, because she identified four websites that tweens and teens like to use, away from the "favorites" Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. I also thought the Sexuality Edition was frank, honest and not preachy. I also liked the study guide, O'Dell included in the back of each book. The goal - another way students and parents can tackle an issue in a non-threatening way. In all, I'll keep these books as a resource for parents. On the scale of one to five, I give them a solid three and half.

Ultimately, these books aren't the definitive solution to an issue - but they are a tool parents can use to start a conversation with their student. Considering how many of my tweens are struggling with bullying at school this fall, I'm definitely going to check it out when it's published. Two books, Dating Edition and Internet Edition, have already been released. Two more books, Sexuality Edition and Drugs Edition, are scheduled to be released this fall. The last section of each book contains scenarios that can be used as conversation starters. These books are timely and interesting, even if the topics are scary for any parent to read about. My only concern is that these books target parents of teens, but parents might want to actually target tweens with this information.

In this scary day and age, children need parental advice on these difficult subjects much earlier and earlier. I received the Dating Edition and the Internet Edition complimentary from Kregel in exchange for an honest review but the opinions in this review are all mine. Jul 30, Leah rated it it was amazing. Each book starts with a Why, When, and How section that explores why we need to address these issues with our teens, when to broach the subjects, and how to bring up some of these difficult issues.

These sections are basically the same in all of the books. The next section of the book addresses different parts of the topic at hand. The internet book looked at internet safety, social media sites, and pornography. The dating book considered when to date, physical affection, and dating a nonbeliever. In the last section of the book, Nicole points out some action steps that parents can take.

Then she gives scenarios to discuss with your child. I really, really liked the open communication style of these books. I liked how Nicole stressed early discussions and being open with your kids. I liked how she emphasized the need for constant prayer in our relationships with our kids. The style of the books was easy to read and use. Each section is followed by bullet points for summarizing the content.

The book's divisions are very nice to make them easy to follow. I look forward to using the scenarios with my teen and almost teen children. Aug 03, Ibjoy Hannabass rated it it was amazing. Dating Edition and Internet Edition I was amazed at the wealth of information I found in both of these little books. Nicole O'Dell gives teens and tweens a series of books that will help in making difficult decisions on each of the subjects in these books. In the Internet Edition, Nicole talks about Internet activity, social networking, sharing files with others, internet porn and predators. And she also gives help to parents on how to protect your child, and know what your child is looking at on the web.

And she goes to the scripture and shares what that Bible teaches, and how young people should act as the use the Internet. In the Dating Edition, the author uses the same outline, only talks about dating starting with the early boy-girl relationship. She hits on whether or not to date, missionary dating, physical attraction and violence and abuse in dating. And again, talks about protective procedures, uses scripture and the Armor of God and Strategic Scenarios for both parents and teens. I have to say I was very impressed with the two books I read in this Series. One really special thing about the series is that is gives parents and teens a chance to talk about these difficult subjects.

With a study guide at the end of each book, the questions are already there for discussion, making it much easier on both the young person and their parents. I highly recommend this series to anyone who has children. You may be surprised the impact these books will have on your family. I received this book free from Kregel Publishing.

I was not required or expected to write a positive review. The opinions here are my own.

Excellent series, recommended to anyone with teens or who work with youth.

Aug 02, Staci rated it it was amazing. I still have 3 children at home and I am sure these are going to be great resources for conversations with them. I have also shared these books with our Youth Group Leaders and Sunday School teachers as many of the youth at our church do not have Christian parents to have these conversations with. The Scenerios will be great for discussion starters.
