Fishing is not meant to be exciting, but relaxing. It's meant to enjoy nature, prerhaps some company, etc. Fishing just gives you something else to do and maybe catch some supper.

Fishing is a relaxing hobby. If you don't enjoy it then it's not for you.

It's simple and dull for a reason, to help you relax and reflect. I think the point is that it gives you a chance to relax and enjoy nature in peace. If it were fast-paced, I don't think it would be as fun. A quiet day out by one's self in a boat, wind tousling your hair, sun shining merrily away, water lapping at the hull No coworkers and their fuckery. Sometimes having to spend minutes just to get a single point, now come on something has got to give. How about making an occasional aquatic type creature pop up on the end of your fishing rod and having to fight for your life and say by killing it you gain a point to your fishing skill and possibly a nice drop to enchance your fishing gear.

I know a lot of ppl don't even use the fishing skill because it take so long to level it up.

Sadly it so boring that I just turn up the ambient sounds and listen for the splashing sound of a fish on the line while I watch a movie or read a book. Yes you may consider this a whine but I have lvled 3 character to fishing. It is super boring and should be made a little more interactive.
