A Taste of Sin

Now, he wants to play house, except he has a lot to learn about being a Laird's husband. If you ask me whether he and Christy work well as a couple, the answer in No. Because both were too absorbed and selfish in their personal needs and affliction. And said man forces her to wed him and annul her current marriage to Sin. So, she makes a plan. Go to London, seduce her husband and get pregnant! That goes awry when she falls for Sin's wicked touch and never expected him to come to the Highlands. But she wants love and if he's not ready to become the husband she wants, then he's not going to stay for long.

I don't know if I approve of Christy's method of protecting her husband's life because it caused quite some problems OVERALL they weren't the best couple combination or they would have worked out fine if only they communicated more and had a better understanding of where each other is coming from.

I didn't see any of that here Pero en general la historia vale la pena. Oct 11, Bettye McKee rated it it was amazing. Christy Macdonald is laird of her clan. But she was married to St. John Thornton when she was seven and he was fourteen. They promptly went their separate ways and never did their paths cross. While Christy is trying to quell a rebellion in her clan, St. John is living the life of a carefree bachelor, only using his married state to avoid entanglements and expectations. Now Christy is being pressured to annul her marriage to St. John and marry the Cameron chieftain.

But Christy has another plan. She will go to London in disguise -- not that St. John would recognize her as he last saw her when she was seven and seduce St. Her goal is to get with child and return to her clan with an heir on the way. Mercy Que linda novela,me cautivo el paisaje agreste como lo describen, una novela muy entretenida, con mucha pasion una buena docis de amor me encanto la recomiendo.

At a young age Sinjun and Christy are married by orders of the king—she Scottish and he English neither wanted the match and so when Christy comes of age, Sinjun does not bother to go back to the Highlands and consummate their marriage. Sinjun likes his life of pleasure and though he does not feel quite the same excitement for it as he used to he fully intends to enjoy himself—and never go to his wife.

Which is why when the lovely Lady Flora Randall walks into a party he makes no pretense about what he wants and since she is married as well all the better for all Lord Sin ever gives is pleasure. Lady Christy has come to London pretending to be Lady Flora so she can get her husband the rake, Lord Sin to consummate their marriage and return home with his baby, and heir. Lately there has been pressure for her to end her marriage and marry another Highlander who wants her power of the clans and she hopes and heir will calm them down.

I liked this book but I admit that it aggravated me as well. Mostly after Sinjun comes to the Highlands though when he hears his wife is pregnant and finds that Christy and Flora was one in the same. This is about halfway through the book I think, and still it was not that aggravating, she lied to him yes, but he is there now, they are working a relationship together, going to have a child and then trouble comes. Sinjun is called away and misses the birth of his baby, but before he can come home he receives a devastating letter from his wife.

This was the big thing for me that stopped me from really enjoying this novel; Christy lies to Sinjun, again, but this time telling him his child died soon after birth and she signs annulment papers and says she want to marry another. My opinion of Christy went down a lot after this, sure she was doing it to protect her husband, but that was just In my opinion I do not think he should have forgiven her at all Sinjun was devastated by the loss of both his wife and child, he was reforming, wanted her and his baby—a family—learning to love her, hell he already did even though he did not realize it and she him as well.

Christy became annoying to me after this and though I still liked the book in an overall sense I could not like her as a character anymore. The sex scenes between the two though were very many and erotic and I did enjoy them immensely. Dec 27, Haley rated it it was ok. Where the last romance novel I read had a female character that annoyed me this novel's hero annoys me-- he is a hypocrite and slightly immature regarding some of the issues he faces with his marriage to Christy. Essentially, the two are married when they are children and Christy remains in Scottland while Sinjun returns to England where he spends the next 15 years sleeping around and actually enjoying the fact that he has a wife in order to avoid marriage minded mamas and ladies of the ton.

Whe Where the last romance novel I read had a female character that annoyed me this novel's hero annoys me-- he is a hypocrite and slightly immature regarding some of the issues he faces with his marriage to Christy. When Christy appears in his life and he has no clue who she is he instantly wants to sleep with her and she allows it as it is literally why she is there, to get pregnant to hopefully bare a male heir for her clan and keep her place as laird and avoid a shady clansman who wants to take over in start a rebellion.

After his behavior I don't blame Christy for finding it a chore to not slap Sinjun for how he talks about his wife and treats her, without realizing who she is. He literally only cares about sleeping with her-- and that's where the book becomes even more problematic for me and does not do anything to endear me to Sinjun as a character. When he does discover the truth he has the nerve to be infuriated, threatening to take her child etc. His use of excuses, such as, its different for men annoys me even more. It is not often that I dislike a character so much in a Mason novel.

All this was detrimental limiting the growth the two characters can achieve as a romantic couple. For most of it I find Sinjun not being good enough for Christy. Yet, there are some moments where I did see hope. There were moments that I did see some genuine growth in Sinjun, he did find a deep sense of responsibility that I liked.

In the months between Christy's pregnancy and the birth there must have been some deep emotional connection taking place in those time skips because there is no absolute reason why they would end up in love. The only romantic and deep gesture that takes place is the exchanging of christmas gifts.

The romance was non-existent. Jun 22, Ange rated it it was ok. I liked this story but I didn't love it. I liked the male lead, and the overall story but there were too many things that rubbed me the wrong way. There are many ingredients that I enjoyed in this story. Let's start with a short summary.

Christy McDonald is the granddaughter of a proud Scottish chieftan. She was forced to marry Lord St. John when she was but a child. He has lead a dissipated life, earning himself the nickname of Lord Sin among the Ton.

What he does not know is that his spitfire of a bride has come to London with a single purpose in mind, consummate her marriage to Lord Sin and bear his heir in the process. After many squabbles between the different clans she rules over, Christy has been given an ultimatum by Callum Cameron the chieftan of the Cameron clan who covets Christy's power as Laird of Gleenmor. She must seek an annulment to her marriage to "The Englishman. She needs an heir and a way to assure herself that her marriage vows cannot be broken. Thus she embarks herself on the road to London to seduce her rake of a husband and bring back to Gleenmor the heir she needs.

Christy gets in Sinjun much more than she bargained for and this is where all the fun stuff begins.

I really liked their interactions and the passion between Sinjun and Christy. It was romantic and fierce. Nonetheless, I feel as if the author abused the figure of "the big misunderstanding" in this story. I can endorse one big misunderstanding, maybe, but like 4 or 5 is too much to make a story relatable or remotely believable. I skimmed some parts because I was just so tired of the lack-of-communication drama. I never agree with skimming but some parts of the drama felt forced. Anyways, this book entertained me and I liked it, but it could have used a good content editor to stir the author away from the cycle of repetition she put her readers through in this books.

There are definitely times when Lord Sin is just an ass and times when Christy is plain stupid, but the book is very entertaining. The character development is there and the plot twists are nice. I would recommend this book to historical romance lovers. Connie Mason is a wonderful author. She is under a lot of pressure to have her marriage annulled so she can marry a man from the highlands. Christy travels to London to seek out Sinjin. Her clan thinks she is going to get the annulment, but she has other plans. She's going to seduce her husband. I loved the premise of this book and it started off strong. I soon came to dislike Christy. She quickly developed a pattern of lying to Sinjin, then running away. Then Sinjin would take his own sweet time chasing after her and the cycle would begin again.

I found this book overly dramatic. Romance does not have to equal drama. The whole thing could have been resolved by locking the two of them in a room until they talked of course the same could be said for a lot of romances. However, if you like your highlander romances to read like a soap opera, give this one a try. Feb 14, Darlein Chandra rated it it was amazing. Dez is seemingly a hedonist swaggering from party to party without much care beyond her group of friends and maybe her mother. I didn't think I was going to like her much and in turn, not be particularly taken by the book either. Page by page her motives and depths were revealed and I found myself rooting for her completely. Dez returns home to be by her mother's side. She gets reacquainted with old friends and meets a new one, her twin brother's best friend, Victoria Jackson. Knowing his sister's reputation and sexual antics, he doesn't want Victoria to be just another conquest, dismissed and forgotten. But the attraction between the two is undeniable. Those who enjoyed her debut novel, "Bliss," will definitely find delight in her sophomore effort. Brash and sassy yet vulnerable Dez made for an interesting and likeable character.

I also liked Dez's group of friends. I'd love to see more written about them, particularly Remi. It was something I've never read before and I adored that. It just seemed confusing and frankly unnecessary since he played little to no role in the story and he broke up with her in the first page of the novel. Now I do want to express that I did have lots of fun reading this but I feel like there were some definite issues and the sex really over powered what could have been an amazing story.
