Yoga With Children, Yoga Bhajan
When she finally emerged from her spot, she seemed to almost float back into the room, and when I asked her whether she felt better, she shot me a surprised look and chirped: I feel very happy now. Amalee attended her first yoga class when she was just five weeks old. When I ask her why, she explains: They become a line of balancing trees, with their branches spread out wide, breathing intently as they do so.
Because here they all are, just trying to make sense of the world we live in through simple breath and movement. Maybe with the future in their hands, these little souls could one day save us all.
WAHE LITTLE GURU: MEET THE KUNDALINI KIDS
I am excited to be able to bring the wonderful techniques of Kundalini yoga and the teachings of Yogi Bhajan to teenagers. The pressures of modern life are overflowing. Teenagers are dealing with huge hormonal changes and sometimes have no outlet to share their experiences or release tension and stress.
My aim is to provide a safe space where they can develop a healthy strong practice whilst developing mindfulness skills. Its essential to find time to let go and relax, to find joy and comfort. What is starchild yoga?
She has now been offering her own teacher training for children worldwide since On the personal level her experience with children is a life-long one, as she raised herself nine children among her own and adopted ones. She believes that children should be taught to tap into their inner strength, peace and happiness in order to become trustworthy, reliable and independent adults.

STARCHILD YOGA
Questions have been brought to my attention by students doubting which children yoga teacher training to follow, as programmes offered on the market seem quite different in length and price, and nevertheless end all the same with a certification for teaching children. Following this, I put together some extra information which can help clarifying the topic. I am a certified 3HO German trainer for children yoga. I taught in the 3HO children yoga teacher training in Europe.
When time came to offer that programme in China, 3HO Germany realized that it was not cost effective to bring their programme to Asia. Furthermore we jointly realize the limitations caused by the fact that foreign programmes are rooted on songs in English or German with which Chinese children cannot identify.
We therefore agreed that Ajai Alai would develop its individual training for Chinese-speaking countries, and gradually develop the relationship with the local culture. Trainers for this teacher training are myself, who among own and adopted ones raised 9 children, and my husband, Satmukh Singh, whose parents worked as foster parents for children of difficult backgrounds who had to be taken away from their family and environment for their own protection.
Sharing his childhood with these difficult children made Satmukh a very sensitive and compassionate caretaker for children. His direct personal experience in this field, is a precious and unique contribution to this teacher training. Our idea for a teacher training is not limited to postures, games or play with children. This is of course a very important and joyful aspect of it. Nevertheless we believe that Yogi Bhajan contributed a lot more than this to children education and growth.
He spoke about discipline and how to empower children to create their bright future.
‘Incite to life, but let life develop freely’ – Maria Montessori
Nowadays, children are either exploited or too spoiled. Over care, limiting risks and rescuing children too quickly, does damage their creative potential. We also believe that before we can work effectively with children, we need to heal our own relationship to our parents and inner child. In failing to go through this process, we reproduce the same patterns that make us miserable, and we put expectations on children that are not connected to who they are.
Furthermore, we bring in the work with children our own judgment about what is right and wrong, whether this is cultural, emotional, personal or just part of a ready-made belief system. Finally, in the years of my yoga studies, I found myself to take courses for children yoga, enjoying them and yet, once back home, not really been competent about how and what to teach.

The manual we have written for participants to this teacher training is a page long, very comprehensive guide on Yogi Bhajan's teachings for children and parenting. It also includes modern research and techniques in the field of child education coming from other sources, and, of course, it has been translated into Chinese for easy access.

We believe that 9 days is the minimum possible for you to integrate these teachings and go at the same time through the possibility of self-transformation and growth. Less than that is totally unrealistic for the goal we have set. The following feedback received from participants clearly support this information.

The teacher training is fun, but above all it allows adults to heal, free themselves from patterns of suffering and destruction and be present to the world of children in a pure, authentic and supportive way. The teacher training for children is a body and mental healing process. It makes me hug my inner child again and can face my wound child with soft energy. It makes me open a pure space to play yoga with children. The teacher training for children was a surprising present for me.
