My temperature shot up. Winning an e-copy from a random caption contest, that is still to this day my best win ever! Not only did I win a book I have reread over and over again, but a friendship of a lifetime with an author who is honestly cares for her readers. AJ Lape really loves her fans and enjoys reading along with us, sharing in ur reading experience.

She is truly a gifted and amazing author who crafts us stories that r both gut busting hilarious and nail-bitingly suspenseful! No Brainer was No Exception! As the second book in The Darcy Walker Series, AJ Lape mixed it up a little, giving us a whole new cast of Crazy and Kooky characters and a destination relocation, making this a perfect summer read! Though this change was fun, I did find myself at times missing Vinnie, Grumpy and Gang. I also missed not having at least one Murphyism or Murphy Mental Meltdown per chapter. As for the ending, well…….

Needless to say, I was more than a lil persnickety! And have NOT slept yet, so I'm a lil cranky! Otherwise the desk and chains are on order. Mar 25, Whitney Cannavina rated it it was amazing. Darcy is leaving for two weeks to Florida with Dylan's family before school starts. Already Darcy is looking for something to do because let's face it, it's been a while since the last incident that ended with a school shooting and the killer of the dumpster murders caught. Finding a boy had been kidnapped months before she decides maybe it's time to do some research and see if she can find anything out to help.

During this story, I seriously wonder how Darcy does it. Somehow she gets info that just about any normal person wouldn't be able to get. She has a keen eye for observation, smart mind that constantly runs info, and the innocent persona that keeps people from seeing her as a threat. She manages to dig deep into a web of lies and deceit to find the little boy kidnapped while also putting herself in danger in more ways than one. I'm surprised she hasn't been injured seriously yet. Her relationship with Dylan always has me confused also. I find him to be a jerk of epic proportions constantly stringing her along.

Not in a I want you, just kidding way but in a nobody-can-have-you-but-me but anyone-can-have-me-but-you. I also believe he wants her but is too afraid to tell her this.

No Brainer (The Darcy Walker Series, #2) by A.J. Lape

Everyone sees it but I wonder if she will give him the chance when that time comes. Her wit, excuses, and sarcasm are entertaining to say the least and have me laughing. I can't wait to read what happens next. The author definitely takes the Nancy Drew stories and gives them a funny twist. No Brainer pretty much picks up right where Grade A Stupid left off. Darcy Walker completes school and is going on vacation with Dylan Taylor and his family to Orlando. She does some research on the happenings of Orlando and sees an article about a 5 year old boy named Cisco Medina that has gone missing.

Cisco has been missing for about 4 months and there have been no leads. Darcy decides that she is going to find Cisco while she is in Florida. While she is trying to help him with his case, she is secretly trying to get his help with hers. There is no shortage of Darcy getting into trouble with the Taylors and the Federal government after breaking into the FBI database. Life is so complicated. I was still laughing out loud and shaking my head at the dumb things that Darcy would do.

I can not stress to everyone enough that these books are so worth the read. Lape has a lifelong stalker now and I will be anxiously, albeit impatiently, awaiting the next Darcy Walker book! In this, the second installment of the Darcy Walker series. It seems that our lovely, albeit "too nosy for her own good, or that of anyone else;" Darcy has flown her way into Orlando and trouble. Not even an all expense paid trip to Florida with her bodacious best bud Dylan, and his family is enough to keep this baby Bloodhound off the scent of murder, missing kids, mayhem and mystery for long.

Darcy is once again in top sleuthing form as she sets her sights on cases involving a In this, the second installment of the Darcy Walker series. Darcy is once again in top sleuthing form as she sets her sights on cases involving a missing child and mob bosses. You would think that being just six months out from her last corpse filled caper; she would just want to relax. You would be wrong. Not only is Darcy out to save the day. She is bound and determined to bring a whole host of wonderfully wacky characters with her in the process.

As if all this is not enough Things between Dylan and Darcy seem to be heating up as well. It seems as though these two may have to rethink that "hands off rule. Lape has managed to create fresh scenarios for Darcy to weave her way in and of. While still allowing Darcy to muddle her way through with her odd combination of wit, brains, and Darcyness.

This book may be the second in the series, but it is written as a stand alone. The Darcyisms are also back and better than ever. If you thought you liked Darcy before To see this review on my blog, go to: I love this series! Hands down, you just never know what to expect. Darcy is once screwed up teenager, and you love her for it. She is extremely intelligent, has a vocab that leaves me in hysterics and bonds of friendship that boggle the mind. Dylan is the all american perfect guy, who is everything to Darcy, even if she won't admit it completley. No Brainer takes us on one heck of a trip to Orlando with Dylan's family.

In true Darcy style, she inserts herself into a mystery and spends the next few I love this series! In true Darcy style, she inserts herself into a mystery and spends the next few weeks in one adventure after another. Her brand of justification is awesome. She makes everything make so much sense in a warped way.

They are without a doubt the perfect pair for each other. It gave us alot of insight into Dylan. I love how Darcy gets these guys to be her "brothers", a 5 yr old kid, a seasoned tattoo artist and etc.. She is amazing and its even more amazing that she has their back, and they have hers.

She builds herself this totally screwed up extended family, but it works.

See a Problem?

I can't wait to for book 3. This story has everything you could ask for. I couldn't put it down and wanted to cry when I hit the end. The story is so full and rich. May 26, C. I'm tempted to read it again just to piece together the threads I dropped along the way. Here's one of my favorite lines, " This isn't just a mystery, there's life lessons buried in this book. An entertaining and complex set of characters grace or gack, as the case may be the pages, creating a unique and smart read. I'll just comment on two of the main ones, but I enjoyed them all.

No Brainer

Darcy is a girl too clever for her own good, playing the cards life has dealt her the best way she knows how, which usually bucks tradition. I laughed out loud at many of her antics and thoughts. Dylan is her awesome friend who comes across as wise beyond his years at times, yet other times he's a quite the fighter, but deep down, always a sweetheart.

There's a huge, unexpected twist at the end of the book. Even though I already knew there was more to the story, the twist complicates things even more. I have just finished this book and let me tell you, it let me flabbergasted. I can't believe what just happened. I would give it stars if possible.

Truly I don't even have words, this was one of the best books I've read this year, and trust me I've read a lot. Darcy is her exquisite self as always, Dylan is my dream guy. I just hope Darcy could see herself better, because her self-esteem issues are larger than life. It's clear to me that she's a knockout. And Dylan is head over heels for her. I I have just finished this book and let me tell you, it let me flabbergasted. I think she's afraid of more, of not being enough for him even if he really sees her as more than he could wish.

I hope that will be clarified in later books. WTF happened in the end?????? You are such a mean girl Ms. Now I'm gonna frustrate over those events till fall. You really can't do this to me. That ending gave me heart pause. I literally entered a state of shock. I hope for my sake and yours that we have some happy news in the third book. I guess I need six stars for No Brainer because, hard as it is to believe, it is even better than the first one!!!

It picks up pretty much where the first one ended, but it goes deeper. We get to meet and get to know Dylan, Darcy's best friend who was largely absent in the first book, and his family. Darcy is on a two week vacation with Dylan and h I need to clear up one thing right now, I gave Grade A Stupid the first book in the Darcy Walker Series five stars because I thought it was superb. Darcy is on a two week vacation with Dylan and his family in Orlando but this is no Disney trip. She's off and running again. She gets involved with the case of a kidnapped child, some professional gamblers and the Mafia.

She wrestles with growing up, responsibility, romance and a head on the beach that is missing it's body. And THEN things start to get exciting. I hope that author A. Lape is hard at work on Book Three because she left us blindsided with a killer cliffhanger and I am ready for my next Darcy fix!!! This book is written in the Young Adult genre, but it is still entertaining enough to hold the interest of anyone of any age, young adult and up. In this second installment we see Darcy go away to Florida for two weeks with Dylan and his family. Now you may think, 'okay she is with Dylan, how can she possibly get into any trouble?

This book gets more and more gripping the more you read it. Today I could not put it down until I had finished it. I was intrigued in Darcy as she tried to track down a five year old boy called Cisco who has been kidnapped whilst wondering how the case Lincoln was working on would some how cross paths. Whilst all this is going on both Darcy and Dylan are battling with their feelings for each other and I do love the will they? I know others just roll their eyes but with Darcy's insecurities and the fact that lets say they get together and it doesnt work out then they have lost the other as a best friend.

I want to know will they? I still have one other burning question What happened to Darcy's mum? Please tell me soon as it is killing me. Two weeks before senior year, Darcy takes off with Dylan and his family to their vacation home in Florida. Before she even gets on the plane, she checks an Orlando newspaper and finds a mystery she just HAS to solve. Will she find the missing boy before it's time to go home? When the Darcy ship hits an iceburg, she hits the biggest one!

This was a great read! My heart was beating so hard at some parts Two weeks before senior year, Darcy takes off with Dylan and his family to their vacation home in Florida. My heart was beating so hard at some parts, it was that intense. If you read when it's quiet, be prepared to scare someone I scared the cat AND the dog when you randomly burst out laughing. I about died laughing when she said Mother May I?!

To tell you more would ruin it. This book is a fun, intense, and frustrating read, that just makes the reader want to slap the characters at times. Luckily the next one comes out soon.

I don't think I could wait a year for it, A. Jun 04, A. Darcy Walker is a 15 year-old girl obsessed with trouble. Danger is her crack addiction. She says the most outrageous things at the worst possible moments. She even gave him the secret handshake. No Brainer by AJ Lape is another wild, hilarious ride in the Darcy Walker Series, sure to leave its readers gasping for air and yearning for more.

A Letter to the author: Fall of is three months away Sincerely, A Darcy Walker Addict Feb 15, Virginia Gray rated it it was amazing. The title says it all! The romance factor is jacked up a notch as Darcy wrestles with her evolving feelings for two seemingly perfect guys and fends off the advances of several seriously imperfect ones. The danger here is upped as well. All the humor and goofiness that is Darcy Walker is still exactly where it should be, and I laughed all the way through the book.

Trouble seems to follow Darcy or maybe shes just a magnet for trouble. No Brainer is super fun, and gives us a Darcy who is a little more grown up, not wiser, just a tad more nosier and resourceful.

Darcy had me laughing from page one. With her witty one liners and her private eye skills there's never a dull moment. Off to Orlando we go. For some fun in the sun with Dylan's family. Well sort of, Darcy trouble magnet starts up even before lift off. A missing child and a crime boss become t Trouble seems to follow Darcy or maybe shes just a magnet for trouble. A missing child and a crime boss become the number one priority for Darcy. Let us not forget the hottie best friend Dylan.

She studied English, Journalism, and Political Science at Morehead State University and left the business world when her daughters were born. In book two, No Brainer, the mystery plot becomes more complicated. But, there is nothing to fear. In this story, Darcy not only becomes involved in the disappearance case of a little boy named Cisco Medina, but she also helps Dylan's grandfather Lincoln with a mobster case.

THE GREAT AMERICAN READ - Grand Finale - Full Episode - PBS

And, because she needs all the help that she can get, she recruits more people into her brotherhood, and one of those persons is Kyd, a rival of Dylan for Darcy's affection. This book has lots of humor, and the mystery is so good that it ends with a cliffhanger What I really like about this mystery series is that the heroine, Darcy, is quite smart and strong, and she's always trying to help, no matter who the people are. I'm sorry, but what's wrong with Dylan? He's so possessive for such a young age. And, the way he talks I just can't get it through me that he's only sixteen and not in his late twenties.

Also, what's up with the way he gets all mad if a guy pays attention to Darcy, but he has not only kissed, but has dated other girls in the past. It's really not fair, when you see that Darcy, even though she's not sure that she's ready to date anybody yet, wants to wait for Dylan until she's ready. She's waiting, why can't he, if he loves her?

It took me a little time to get into this but I finally did. The writing is good but the way these kids talk sometimes is confusing. And Darcy comes across as smart sometimes and incredibly stupid at others In this one she decides that rather than enjoy a lovely vacation in Florida hobnobbing with the wealthy and flirting with the cute guys she is surrounded by, she decides she is going to solve a missing persons case.

A fifteen year old girl with no self preservation who also manages to rope in others into her insanity. As what generally happens, she kinds of stumbles onto things that lands her into hot water. And if that doesn't happen, she purposely walks into dangerous situations. She's just wired that way. How she manages to survive is anyone's guess, but our Darcy does manage to scrape by with her life intact. Then there is Dylan. It is so obvious but these two just keep circling around the wagon. They fear losing each other and yet they just can't seem to face the reality that they feel more than friendship for the other.

And the way they talk and act with each other is just too intimate for teenagers who are that dense.
