A Womans Voice ~ Inspirational Short Stories ~ Volume 1
This book is never judgemental, but instead, it is much like a mirror reflecting the inner thoughts and motives of decisions made. Dolores' loving gentle whisper allows us to gleen from the truths that most of us have already known, but perhaps through times of hectic, stress filled day to day living we have somehow forgotten. Christine Gilliam Hornback author of four books Jul 12, Chelsea rated it really liked it. When I first began reading this book, I wasn't really sure what to expect. I knew that it would be a series of short stories, but I didn't think that they would be told in a first-person manner, through the eyes and experiences of the author.
I'm very glad that it did turn out that way, however, because I truly enjoyed reading it. It gave me the opportunity to reflect upon some of the things in my life, both good and bad, and think about ways in which I could either change or move on from the When I first began reading this book, I wasn't really sure what to expect.
See a Problem?
It gave me the opportunity to reflect upon some of the things in my life, both good and bad, and think about ways in which I could either change or move on from the bad, and turn it into good as well. In the strangest way, I experienced a feeling much like those I felt when my own mother used to talk to me about the past experiences in her life. I have always enjoyed learning from the wisdom of my elders, and this book was just that. I highly recommend this book to any woman who needs a few words of wisdom in a way that doesn't make you feel 'talked down' too. I'm glad I had the opportunity to read this compilation of short stories, and I think that you will be too.

A blessing for women young and old! I felt as if I were sitting at the feet of a seasoned woman of faith as she shared nuggets of wisdom with me.
The author's personal experiences resonated with me as I saw many women in her stories to include myself and my friends. I promise this woman is gifted beyond words to not only share her stories but to package her writing so perfectly. She touches the major points that every woman deals with. Then, when I talk to my mom, I hear the worry in her voice whenever I tell her of an illness my daughter has. God has anointed Dolores, and she uses her gift to the fullest. As with volume 2, the author provides personal reflections at the end of her chapters, which I found to be very useful. These are stories which should be read slowly and reflected upon, in order to get the most out of them.

It takes a strong author to write stories of this nature, stories which are deep and truly touch the soul. I am looking much forward to reading more of Ms. May 27, Susan Day rated it it was amazing. Just like others in the series, they are fascinating and poignant. There is certainly something in this book that will touch every woman.
The author speaks from experience that stems from years of marriage, a parent, a friend, a companion and a grandmother. She weaves these experiences of her life into this collection of magical tales. With points for reflection included after each story, this collection will help the reader come to terms with who she is and where she is going in life. There is also a bonus chapter at the end of the book which is a lovely surprise. Nov 25, Ginae Lee Scott rated it really liked it.

But "A Woman's Voice" is not a ordinary book.
This is not a story about dystopian worlds or vampire star-crossed lovers. It's not telling, but teaching, like the author said. It will make you question your life, the way you communicate and treat the people closest to you. It will make you think, than think again. This must read, I hope will transform you into a better person, like it did transform me. Jun 30, Diana Montgomery rated it it was amazing. I found this book to be full of insights about life in general.
The thing I liked the most was how Dolores wrote it using biblical backing. I enjoyed her insight on different subjects. Friendships, being a empty nester and depression to name a few. I know as I read the book it made me look at myself. Looking forward to reading volume 2. Jun 19, Amalie Jahn rated it it was amazing. Aug 30, Emily Stanton Wolfpack rated it it was amazing. Dolores Ayotte continues to be a comforting presence in her inspirational series of books, following up on the previous two volumes with this third installment. This book is a beautiful collection of wisdom gathered from years of experience--Ayotte shares her life raising children and overcoming everyday obstacles, and the advice she offers comes with plenty of grace and care. Her voice in writing is like reading a letter from Mom just when you need it most, like a big bowl of hot chicken soup.
I love the way Ayotte uses her family experience and personal spirituality to touch others and motivate those who may be struggling, especially with conditions like depression that can be debilitating and affect every aspect of a person's life. Ayotte masterfully weaves her own personal story and triumph with important messages to the reader: I enjoyed and appreciated every moment of Ayotte's writings, and I'm confident that her words will work magic and provide soothing comfort for many more people as well.
I highly recommend this volume, as well as Dolores Ayotte's earlier writing for its welcoming, all-encompassing tone and importance to sufferers of mental illness. Jun 18, Alan Hardy rated it it was amazing. As well as the measures she advocates to ameliorate depressive states, there are musings on her garden; her father; relationships; self-awareness; creativity; and consideration to others, as well as concern for oneself. A wonderful selection, eclectic in breadth of subject and tone, but of particular note are the great reflections on, and measures to deal with depression, which afflicts a large number of people and can so disturb and even destroy lives.
The author performs a great service for us all in treating this subject with sober experience and thoughtful consideration. May 18, Reg Shell rated it it was amazing. Picking up the third volume of these stories makes me want to check out the first two volumes. However, as the author says in the introduction, there is no narrative connection between the stories and they can be read out of order and the book dipped into now and again.
Having said that, I did read cover to cover and really liked how meditative my mood became as I read on.
